A film by Christopher McQuarrie

With Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, Henry Cavill and Rebecca Ferguson

More daring, more spectacular and more perilous. Mission: Impossible – Repercussions is not only the best chapter in the series, but most of all an almost perfect entertainment

Agent Ethan Hunt is back. And he is more fit than ever.

While some series start to run out of steam after a few films, Mission: Impossible is coming back to us today with Repercussions a new chapter which raises the standards, already established very high by the preceding chapters.

This time, Tom Cruise and his acolytes embark on a race against the clock in order to recover three nuclear weapons able to stop entire populations. Agent Ethan Hunt, however, will have to team up with a new enforced partner (hello, Henry Cavill) in this quest that will confront him with some of his past decisions.

Let's first make one thing clear. Yes, Christopher McQuarrie's script is riddled with coincidental coincidences and far-fetched footage. But let's not forget that this is a series bearing the title of Mission: Impossible . The improbabilities are therefore almost immediately forgiven, the action scenes naturally taking precedence over the plot.

Impressive action scenes

And these action scenes are frankly very, very impressive, but also credible. It was also surprising to hold our breath, and this, on many occasions, in front of the prowess executed mostly by Tom Cruise.

Moreover, like the preceding chapters, it is in much thanks to the 56-year-old actor that this repercussion works as well. The American star has still lost nothing of its form or charisma, on the contrary, we appear today at the peak of his art.

In short, the filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie has indeed managed a mission that the it was impossible to surpbad the particularly high expectations after his Mission: Impossible – The Rogue Nation appeared three years ago. His Repercussions proves to be a good dose of adrenaline that keeps us going from beginning to end.

Mission: Impossible – Repercussions will be playing Friday . Some cinemas offer performances as early as Thursday evening.
