The Honda Civic Type R has once again made the powder speak. After Magny-Cours, the Nurburgring, and Spa-Francorchamps, it is this time at Silverstone that the Japanese bike set a new record.
The fastest compact in the world
Let's first recall the challenge of the brand. Honda embarked at the beginning of the year in a record hunt, having already attempted a similar challenge in 2016 . The objective of the Civic Type R is to break the records of several legendary tracks in the category of pull-ups: Magny-Cours in France, Estoril in Portugal, Hungagoring in Hungary, Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium and Nurburgring in Germany.
After Germany, Belgium, then France, it was this time in the United Kingdom, on the ultra-fast track of Silverstone, that Honda exploded the chronometer on 5.9 kilometers of asphalt. With a lap completed by Honda rider Matt Neal, in 2 minutes and 31 seconds it's a new record in the Honda Civic Type R in its category.
The hunt for records is not over
Honda particularly emphasized the ultra-sporty nature of its production car. It must be said that the Honda Civic Type R is equipped with VTEC engine TURBO 2.0 liter optimized, with a power of 320 HP. Muscular performance with a perfect aerodynamic package for the balance of the vehicle.
With such results, the brand does not stop there. After Silverstone, we find Jenson Button, former Formula 1 world champion and current Super GT championship driver in a Honda NSX, WTCR driver Tiago Monteiro (Portugal) and star Bertrand Baguette (Belgium), engaged in Super GT on a Honda NSX.
