the municipal administrations of Ixelles and Etterbeek adapt their schedules

The municipality of Etterbeek announced on its Facebook page that its employees would have the opportunity to finish earlier in the next few days. The cause: the hot weather announced for the weekend. In Ixelles, employee breaks may be a little longer.

Employees suffer from heat in the Etterbeek Commune's offices. Adjusting schedules allows workers to work 6 hours instead of 7½ hours. No impact for the inhabitants of the Commune, since the administration is usually accessible until 1 pm in July and August

Beyond 29 degrees, it is legally forbidden for an employer to make his office employees work. Mercury will reach 34 degrees this Thursday. In the clbadified buildings of the municipality of Etterbeek, it is impossible to install an air conditioning system. This is also the case in the municipality of Ixelles. The municipal authorities have developed a heat plan taking the basics in case of high temperatures: water, fans and more break time.

Tomorrow, the municipal authorities of Ixelles will meet to make the point on the days of heat wave expected. They plan to adapt their schedules on Thursday in order to perhaps shorten the working hours of their employees.
