Eighty poets from 40 countries, 110 publishers, readings, workshops, meetings, dance halls and concerts take place from July 20 to 28 in the Hérault. The festival "Mediterranean Vivid Voice in the Mediterranean" celebrates poetry
From dawn to dusk, the city of Sète prepares to live in the time of poets. A reading on the beach of the Corniche will take place from 5 o'clock in the morning. It will continue, until more than midnight, by workshops of writing or slam, readings on the mainland, by boat on the Royal Cbad or at sea aboard a sailboat. These are fabulous encounters with poets accompanied by artists from all walks of life: storytellers, musicians, actors, singers but also fishermen, jousters and seafarers from this Mediterranean port where the author Paul Valéry was born.
The 2018 edition features a rich program with artists from around the world: Hala Mohammad (Syria), Venus Khoury-Ghata (Lebanon), Dimitris Kosmopoulos (Greece), Pierre Joris (Luxembourg), Dominique Mbadaut (Belgium) ), Marie Huot (France) and Sanaz Davoodzadeh Far (Iran). 68,741 people participated in the festival last year, most of the events were free.

Voices Vives also proposes three exceptional concerts with headlining the singer Anne Sylvestre and her 60 years of song expected on July 21st. The patron of the festival, Sapho, will take over the repertoire of the great Barbara on July 24 as well as that of Barbara Hendricks & her Blues Band on July 27 in the Saint-Louis Church, located in the heart of the district. from Sète.
"If it remains a challenge to organize a festival of poetry as Vivid Voice the public is there, each year more numerous for twenty years, concerned by a poetic word that is for everyone … which invites to the discovery of the other, the sharing of cultures, "notes Maïthé Vallès-Bled, director and founder of the festival.
By 2018, the very existence of the festival had been threatened by a drop in subsidies. "The fragility of the culture is that it depends on the means that are given to him to be transmitted to the greatest number", emphasizes Mrs. Vallès-Bled who had to appeal to patrons.
The festival also spread worldwide in Genoa in Italy (from June 16th to 17th), Toledo in Spain (from August 31st to September 2nd) and Ramallah in Palestinian territories (from August 15th to 21st) .
