The repurchase of the Fox by Disney approved for 71 billion

This Friday, July 27, the shareholders of the film studio 20th Century Fox were to vote for or against the proposal to buy by Disney, and almost unanimously, it is a yes which came out.

This merger was already under consideration since the end of the last year: Disney had proposed the astronomical sum of $ 52 billion, we had already spoken to you in December. Everything was in place until another company, Comcast, outbid with 61 billion, which put Disney in an awkward position.

But the most famous mouse in the world is not the kind to let it go, so it extended its offer of a few billion (a trifle for Disney, already owner of Pixar, Marvel and Lucasfilm) and the offer has been accepted.

Disney will have a huge catalog

Remember that Fox has produced a lot of successes and held a bundle of franchises: Avatar, Alien, Predator, The Planet of the Apes, The Simpsons, the Chronicles of Narnia, and many more.

Disney also owns the studio Blue Sky, known for the Ice Age, Rio and Ferdinand. But above all, Disney repatriates almost all the superheroes Marvel which was missing: The Avengers will be joined by the Fantastic 4, the X-Men, Deadpool or the Silver Surfer. Finally, only Namor, the super hero from the oceans, still remains the property of a competing studio, namely Universal. We will finally be able to dream of a mega cross-over Marvel!

Now, thanks to the redemption of the Fox, Disney has just acquired Hulu even if contracts were already underway between the two companies. The opportunity to launch series on the works of the new catalog is too good to miss.
