Bellator 224: "Budd vs. Rubin "airs TONIGHT (Friday, July 12, 2019) on WinStar World Casino and Resort in Thackerville, Oklahoma, airing on Paramount Network and streaming on DAZN. The featherweight women's title is in play in the main event, while Julia Budd (12-2) puts her winning streak of 10 victories on the line against undefeated Olga Rubin (6-0).

Rafael Carvalho against. Chidi Njokuani

Black trunks and blue gloves for Njokuani, career record of 18-6 (1 NC) in tonight's fight in Las Vegas, Nevada. Carvalho has red gloves with black skirts and a 15-3 career record in Coconut Creek, Florida via Curitiba, Brazil. Our responsible referee is Kerry Hatley.

Round 1: No glove when the two men are in the center. Carvalho finally forces Njokuani out and starts looking for the head. They drop out and he throws a right elbow and pushes Njokuani back. Njokuani responds with his own hard elbow. Carvalho tries to sneak into uppercute cuts and body shots while they stay chest-to-chest in the cage. Njokuani is losing his mind in some strikes, but not all. Carvalho takes his size from behind and throws him down at 2:56. Njokuani gets up and back at 3:04. Carvalho's impulse is checked. Njokuani eats a left before they drop out. Njokuani tries to peel it without success. 10-9 Carvalho.

Round 2: Njokuani pushes forward and gets a head butt and two body kicks. Carvalho tries to move forward but Njokuani throws himself beside him and throws himself on his knees. Carvalho gets free at 1:59 and rushes with combos. They circle in circles on the fence. Carvalho drops the levels and gets the takedown at 03:07. Hatley gets tired of inactivity and raises them with less than a minute. Njokuani throws another high shot. Carvalho misses wildly with a right. Kick at 4:44 for Njokuani. 10-9 Njokuani.

Turn 3: Everything remains to be done and there are 5 minutes remaining. The two men are also tried in the middle of the cage until Carvalho pushes Njokuani towards the fence at 36 seconds. Carvalho struck him with authority at 1:19. Njokuani grabs his head and flaps it so that all that Carvalho can throw is a short right hand on the body and head. He can get up again. Carvalho does it and goes back at 2.30pm. Left and right mark now. Njokuani tries to land his opponents while he is gnawed on the ground and rolls, but misses. There are 90 seconds left. A hard elbow feels Njokuani's chin. Carvalho recoils at 3:52 but Njokuani is able to get up. Carvalho takes his back, Njokuani tries a kimura, but Carvalho escapes and pulls Njokuani to the top. 10-9 Carvalho.

Final result: the judges all score 29-28 X3 in favor of Rafael Carvalho.


Juliana Velasquez against. Kristina Williams

Silver trunks and tops for Velasquez 8-0 in red gloves. Top black Venum and blue trunks for the Williams 3-1. Williams fights Edmond, Oklahoma and Velasquez of Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Our responsible referee is Jacob Montalvo.

Round 1: A friendly glove tap starts things. Velasquez pivots in the center while Williams revolves around her. Williams follows his usual form of staying away and uses his kickboxing skills and his long legs. Velasquez responds by putting a few left blows on his chin. They went back to the center and Williams was injured with two left hands. Velase the press against the fence and raise more rights until Williams finally frees himself at 2:48. Velasquez moves back and then displays Williams with a right and another on the left. Another left picks Williams at 3:48. The right side of his face is bright red. 10-9 Velasquez

Round 2: Williams tries an early header and Velasquez responds with a heavy set of combos. A body by the minute is quickly broken. Williams scratches his chin with a kick but it bleeds from the nose as the blows continue to break in his face. Velasquez gets a kick and a body shot as we pass the 2 minutes. Every time Williams kicks, Velasquez hits harder and his left hand hurts when we pass the three minutes. More lefts straight connect. Williams' face is a fucking mess. She starts to cover herself and turns away. Montalvo saves her at 4:01.

Final result: Juliana Velasquez wins by technical knockout at 4:03 of the second round.


Ed Ruth against. Kiichi Kunimoto

Ruth is 6-1 in red gloves with black trunks and Kunimoto is 20-7-2 in blue gloves with silver trunks. Our referee responsible for the contest is Todd Anderson.

Round 1: Ruth and Kunimoto exchange their legs. Ruth Kunimoto weapon with a left hand that stuns momentarily. Ruth's kick. Good hands are missing for Ruth. Jab left connects. Kunimoto misses with a right and gets adorned with a left. He catches and Ruth pushes him into the cage. Knees in the body of Ruth. Anderson warns him to watch the cup. Ruth takes it at 2:06. Kunimoto sits against the cage and Ruth hits the right hand while standing up. Right shoulders to Ruth's chin before they break. Kicks to trade again. Ruth does not stop finding the chin with the left and crushes Kunimoto on the ground with a forehand. Kunimoto tries to land an upkick but Ruth avoids them and gets the upper hand. 10-9 Ruth.

Round 2: Ruth illuminates Kunimoto from left and right in the first 30 seconds and shaves his head with a high shot. Kunimoto shoots for one leg, but Ruth blocks her with "ease." Ruth emerges at 1:32. Push the kicks, the good left flat Jab continues to hit Kunimoto against the face. A body shot at 2:46 looks like a shot but Kunimoto ate it with little effect. The left eye of Kunimoto seems to be swelling. He fails to get a shot on the ground while Ruth catches him with one knee and pours it on, Anderson saves Kunimoto from TKO.

Final result: Ed Ruth wins by technical knockout at 3:49 of the second round.


Leslie Smith against. Sinead Kavanagh

Smith is 10-7-1 in the red gloves and black shirt fighting in San Francisco, California. Kavanagh is 5-3 in the blue gloves and red top of Dublin, Ireland. Our responsible referee is Jacob Montalvo.

Round 1: Smith presses ahead early and Kavanagh is thrilled to be able to trade her hands with her as she does. Smith continues to wade and leaves a redness and swelling on Kavanagh's face. Kavanagh goes back and forth to try to position himself better, pulling his left hand and the right hook grunting as if he were in a boxing fight. Smith wins at 2:12 and then relaxes. Kavanagh catches a kick at 2:46 and lets him go. Smith reads the keystrokes when Kavanagh gets up and raises his arms to protect himself. Clinch and Smith's elbow before she resets. Kick at 4:01 hurts Kavanagh. Kavanagh is recovering quickly but she is breathing hard. Smith kicks off Kavanagh late with his hands and legs to finish a VERY solid 10-9 run.

Turn 2: Smith immediately forces Kavanagh back and looks for the head. Kavanagh tries to deflate and launch body shots. Smith's length and reach are difficult for her. Kavanagh's arms continue to drop by the second, so she struggles to raise them defensively. Smith seizes this and feels the house hard to leave. Kavanagh's face is redder than a tomato. The right hook also slams at 3:36 after a minute of aggression and effective typing. Smith also attacks the left leg with multiple kicks. Kavanagh gets fucked at 4:38. Kavanagh sneaks into an elbow before the bell. 10-9 Smith.

Round 3: Smith does not waste time after Kavanagh. Smith landed several times left and right at 24 seconds. Looking at Kavanagh, you think she has trouble seeing with one or both eyes. Smith dominates Kavanagh so hard that she bounces off the fence. Smith picks up and places a right elbow. They are in the fence at 2:30 and another elbow connects. The kick to the left leg follows. Kavanagh circles to his left and Smith throws left and right – both connect in color. There is almost nothing left in Kavanagh with a minute to go around in circles and go back. John McCarthy thinks that R2 was close, but the three rounds easily go to "The Peacemaker" Smith 10-9. Several rights, elbows and cuts seal R3 for Smith before the bell.

Final result: The judges score points 28-28, 29-28 and 29-28 for Smith by majority.

Kiefer Crosbie against. Mike Jackson

Crosbie is 6-0 in red gloves and black boxers from Dublin, Ireland. Jackson is 12-12 years old in blue gloves and solid black chests, fighting from Norman, Oklahoma. The referee for this contest is Jason Herzog.

Round 1: Crosbie immediately marks the head with a kick. Jackson shoots after taking a second one. Crosbie sews his head against the fence. Herzog advises him to target it carefully. Jackson gets the withdrawal at 0:57 but Crosbie jumps to his feet. Another descent at 1:24 and Crosbie is back. Elbows hurt Jackson and Herzog warn him to move. Crosbie hits an illegal knee and Jackson is face down on the canvas when Herzog thinks about taking the time. He can not continue and the fight is over. They kiss each other after Jackson stands up, wearing a neck brace.

Final result: Jason Herzog declares Mike Jackson winner by disqualification.


A J. Agazarm against Jacob Landin

0-1, blue gloves, black and gold chests for Landin. 0-1, red gloves and solid black leggings for Agazarm. Landin is fighting in San Antonio, Texas. Agazarm is from Hollywood, Florida, but is fighting in Stockton, California. Our responsible referee is Jacob Montalvo.

Turn 1: Landin changes posture and puts pressure on Agazarm. His first attack is almost entirely a kick. Agazarm finally makes his way to the body and raises his hands to block the heat back. Agazarm presses Landin toward the outer circle, kicks at the cut, and Montalvo takes time. He recovers and returns to the front and drops Landin at 2:35. Agazarm quickly moves into the mounting position and Landin is warned not to grasp the cage. Agazarm is warned not to touch the back of the head. Landin gives up his back and Agazarm pours it. Montalvo looks like he's ready to stop, but Landin protects his head with his hands. Agazarm then passes to the naked attack at the back. He has the cock at 4:21.

Final result: A.J. Agazarm wins by submission (naked rear choke) at 4:21 of the first round.


Nainoa Dung against. Bradley Robison

Dung is 2-0 in red gloves and black skirts fighting in Makaha, Hawaii. Robison is 3-0 in blue gloves and white underpants from Topeka, Kansas. The referee responsible for this contest is Todd Anderson.

Round 1: Kick in 13 seconds. Robison shoots and Dung takes off and returns to a takedown at 48 seconds. The left hand with the face on the ground and the rights hard to the body. Uppercut of Dung while he tries to go half way – and does it. Dung has a guillotine and falls back with her. Robison pulls with all his might and finally pulls out at 03:03 on guard at the top. It was like seeing toothpaste being extracted from a tube. Dung sweeps the top at 3:47 and throws the hammer and then takes the back. Robison defends a kimura but is still on his back at the end of the R1. 10-9 Dung.

Round 2: Robison tries to connect with a whim for 30 seconds in R2, shoots and is pushed into the fence by Dung. Robison steps back and gets the takedown in full custody. Dung keeps him body against body and does not let much happen. Anderson threatens to get up halfway. Dung gets up at 3:10. He tries and fails to get a kimura for the second time and Robison gets up with a time remaining at 1:12. Robison has a shot on the ground with over 50 seconds remaining. Dung rolls and gets up, Robison covers himself but Dung nails him anyway with an uppercut, then Dung takes his back and does damage with little time. Robison might have won that round before the uppercut but I give Dung a 10-9.

Round 3: Robison takes a knee to Dung's body while he picks up for a takedown attempt. Dung kicks up and a left hook when they break but Robison drops him off and gets half-guard with two minutes. Dung sweeps and gets his back throwing hard shots from behind. He climbs too high and Robison disappears at 3:32 but Dung hits him with a big right hand before returning to the lead. He recoils at 3:54 then kick a potentially illegal kick to an opponent on the ground and Anderson calls time. He says the kick has caught the chin even though the essentials have been shot down on the body. Dung gets a two-point deduction but the fight is allowed to continue. Dung begins to go bankrupt knowing that he may have just knotted the fight on the cards with his mistake. Robison tries to get a shot on goal but Dung gets up to the top of the bell. 9-8 Robison.

Final result: Nainoa Dung wins a unanimous decision 28-27 X3.


Christian Edwards against. Justin Vargas

White trunks and blue gloves, 3-1, Fort Hood, Texas, is Vargas. Black trunks and red gloves, 0-0, Albuquerque, New Mexico is Edwards. Our referee is Todd Anderson.

Round 1: Vargas is the first in the center as the two tap gloves. He immediately asked Edwards to go back and pick up a right hook before dropping levels in search of a takedown. Edwards holds up well against the fence and shakes Vargas with an attack on the left before pouring his left hand and elbows to stop at 54 seconds.

Final result: Christian Edwards wins by technical knockout at 0:54 of the first round.


Gabriel Varga against Jamese Taylor

Varga has red gloves, Taylor the blue, both make their professional debut at MMA but Varga is a kickboxer champion. Taylor fights from St. Charles, Missouri, in multicolored trunks, while Victoria, Canada, Canada's own Varga has gray trunks. The referee is Kerry Hatley.

Round 1: Taylor steps back, kicks and returns one in kind. Varga teases the kicks that he does not throw then advance with shots of body. Taylor reacts to this momentum by relieving Varga and putting himself half on guard. Varga gets up after two minutes but Taylor jumps on his back and then resumes his climax when he returns to the ground. Varga wins and gets up at 2:37. Taylor repels several attempts at landing. Nothing changes for the next two minutes – Varga continues to try and Taylor defends every attempt. Varga almost has one leg late but can not secure her. 10-9 Taylor.

Round 2: Varga lacks a whim, lands a kick aside, Taylor makes the favor again. Varga hits him with his right hand. Varga advances the head of the body and Taylor covers. Another flush right hand and more body work against the fence. Taylor kick. Left hook by Varga. Varga forces Taylor to change position. 2:30 gone. The kicks are exchanged. Varga hurts Taylor with a shot at the body and he doubles. Varga gets in the back, then lights up when Taylor gets up to get the technical stop.

Final result: Gabriel Varga by technical knockout at 3:23 in the second round.


Arlene Blencowe against. Amanda Bell

Blencowe is 11-7 in the red gloves and the green / green trunks fighting in Sydney, Australia. Bell is 6-5 in blue gloves and black top / trunks competing in Molalla, Oregon. Our responsible referee is Jason Herzog.

Turn 1: The tapping of the glove leads to a striking right hand to the ear in 9 seconds, rests on the hammer blows, and she continues to pour it when Bell gets back up. Herzog sends it to 22 seconds.

Final result: Arlene Blencowe via KO at 0:22 of the first round.


Will Fleury against. Antonio Jones

Round 1: Fleury uses his size and manages to force Jones back until he hits him with a right to 40 seconds and drags him to the ground. Jones took this fight with two weeks notice and it shows. Fleury is quickly in control of side. He goes on full mount at 1:35. Jones drops his back and Fleury chokes, but Jones escapes. Fleury climbs the back with both hooks throwing hard left and when Jones falls, he tries again to sink into the RNC. He is however too high on the chin and Jones escapes. Fleury continues to fish for this. Jones puts his hands on a wrist to try to survive. Jones disappears at 4:24 while Fleury tries to take his place. 10-8 round for Fleury.

Turn 2: Jones checks a whim to start the round and throws a right hand. A left hook finds its place when Fleury dances back. Jones charges and Fleury tethered him and knocked him down in 49 seconds. He takes control of the side immediately. Jones pushes him back half-way at 1:30. Fleury continues to drool and jump and finally regains lateral control at 3:15 pm. Full frame at 3:32. The ten Irishmen present in the building make a football song for Fleury. Fleury strikes an elbow at home and Jones drops his back 40 seconds from the end. Jones survives a late attempt to create a RNC. 10-9 Fleury.

Turn 3: Jones advances as if he knew he was in a big hole and he needed a knockout. Fleury steps back and kicks. Jones swings and misses with a right and Fleury raises and lowers the levels against the fence. He hits the takedown at 1:05 just in the side control, then vines the legs. Jones defends herself as Fleury moves from a position looking for an opening. He has plenty of frames with 40 seconds remaining. Jones survives again but Fleury threw a blank game on the dashboards.

Final result: Will Fleury by unanimous decision of 30-26, 30-27 X2.


Lucas Brennan against. Thomas Lopez

Jordan Young against Joel Bauman

Young is 10-0 in the red glove and the black / red trunk, fighting in Coconut Creek, Florida. Bauman is 3-0 in blue gloves and the black jersey, fighter from St. Paul, Minnesota. Our referee responsible for this contest is Todd Anderson.

Round 1: Young offers a glove faucet and Bauman agrees with caution. Bauman uses the kicks to start, then assigns Young a deadly blow. Young connects with his own kick at 1:08. Bauman arrives with a volley of kicks to the body and leg. Young advances, grabs Bauman almost by the neck and places him against the fence while trying to put him down. Bauman presses a button and it is he who finishes in front with 2h30 remaining. Young throws his legs in the air looking for a strangled triangle and lowers his head. Bauman taps at 3:20.

Final result: Jordan Young by submission (starter triangle) at 3:20 of the first round.


Kona Oliveira against. Joseph Holmes
