Beloved Millbrae Creperie Closes Due to COVID-19 Restrictions

MILLBRAE, Calif. – An iconic Millbrae restaurant, which has served breakfast non-stop daily since 1959, is the latest commercial establishment to shut down due to restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic, but the good news is that the closure won’t is only temporary.

Millbrae Pancake House will temporarily suspend all commercial activities after close of business on Sunday.

The family-run restaurant, at 1301 El Camino Real, has been open every day for 61 years, except for being closed every year on Christmas Day.

The restaurant remained open throughout 2020, despite challenges facing the restaurant industry due to the pandemic.

Restaurant management said on Friday that its health and safety protocols had not resulted in any COVID-19 incidents at the facility.

The restaurant is designed to operate at full capacity. But, management said its attempt to operate it at reduced capacity proved inadequate.

With the temporary closure, 44 employees are laid off. The longest-serving employee has been there for almost 54 years.

The restaurant will reopen in 2021, an exact date has not been announced.
