Ana de Armas admitted that she found it a “ great torture ” by mastering the accent of Marilyn Monroe for the movie Blonde.

The Cuban-born actress stars in the upcoming biopic as an American screen legend and it took her nine months to familiarize herself with the correct tone of the dialogue, leaving her brain “ fried ”.

When asked if she had mastered Marilyn’s American accent, she replied: “ I tried! It only took me nine months of coaching and dialect practice, and a few ADR sessions. [rerecording dialogue after filming]”.

She said in an interview with Style magazine from The Sunday Times: ‘As a woman in the industry I had a lot of thoughts on how things from the 1930s, 1940s, 1950s are so relatable today. .

“And how if you don’t have a solid foundation, with your family and so forth, it’s really hard to survive – really hard.

When Ana first moved to the United States, she could not speak English but still went out to audition for film roles and was learning her scripts by their sounds alone.

She admitted: ‘At first I didn’t understand at all. But, you know, it’s getting better!

The Knives Out star admitted her success stunned her parents. She said, “ It blows them away, it’s too much for them. ”

It comes after Armas said he felt like she was always ‘in the right place at the right time’.

The star has had a string of successful acting roles, but she is convinced that she just had the “ luck ” of getting those roles and it’s all about being in the right situation.

Speaking of her illustrious career, she said: “I don’t know. I always felt like I was in the right place at the right time with the right people, that was my life. I feel like I was brave, combined with that made me lucky.

“ So whenever I have that instinct, my gut tells me to get on a plane, I go with it – because I feel like the outcome is going to be good! ”

Ana admitted that it was her “curiosity” and “ambition” that led her to leave Cuba for her acting career.

She shared to The Times: ‘I just felt like I always wanted more in everything in my life. I was very ambitious and curious and wanted to do more. In Cuba, you live in a bubble. I didn’t know what the world was like.

“ I had never traveled in my life before … I guess – and I think so in the best possible way – being ignorant of some things can help you because you have no fear. I just went and I did. If I had to do it now, knowing what it is and what I had to go through, I would be scared. But I’m glad I did. I haven’t thought about it twice.
