Ben Platt revealed on Sunday that he contracted COVID-19 earlier this year, comparing the deadly virus to a “terrible flu”.
Reply to a tweet who asked, “Do you personally know anyone who has contracted COVID-19,” the 27-year-old actor said he battled the novel coronavirus in March.
“Me. It was like a horrible flu that lasted for about 3 weeks. Luckily made a full recovery. Many have not been so lucky and will continue to not be,” Platt tweeted.
Broadway star added he’s “absolutely fine now” and urged his followers to “keep their distance and hide!”
As of Sunday, more than 10 million cases of coronavirus have been reported in the United States and more than 244,000 deaths, according to the CDC.
In addition to Platt, a number of celebrities have spoken about their experiences with COVID-19, including Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson, and most recently Hugh Grant.
