Every NFL week begins with a Thursday night soccer game for most of the rest of the 2021 season, and these are our favorite lists for playing Daily Fantasy Football. The TNF Showdown Slate lets you choose from a smaller crop of players, and if your choice of cheap sleeper succeeds, you can win big in your tournaments or easily win your DFS head-to-head clashes.
Each week, I will receive DFS Thursday night picks from our experts and we will feature them below. But first, let’s preview the game and what we might expect.
The past week was a low scoring affair between the Panthers and Texans where Sam Darnold continued to rely on DJ Moore as his clear No.1 option. Darnold also saved his own Fantasy Day with two rushed touchdowns. Of course, the big news from last week’s Thursday night soccer game was Christian McCaffrey leaving with an injury. Hopefully we don’t have big injuries this week.
The Bengals welcome the Jaguars in what should be a very favorable game for Joe Burrow and the passing game despite Tee Higgins (shoulder) missing his second straight game. The Jaguars’ pass defense is at the limit of a funnel (they’ve actually been above par against the run) and it will only get worse for them now that they’ve traded the old corner. first round CJ Henderson. This trade is a blow to Jacksonville’s depth in high school and they were already shallow there. I would expect Burrow to build on the passing game and Tyler Boyd to build on his great performance in Week 3. Christian Kirk went over 100 yards from the slot last week against Jackonsville and this position. could be their weakest on the list. Ja’Marr Chase is also a threat to create several big plays in this game.
On the other hand, look for Trevor Lawrence to run more often. He was quoted after last week’s loss as saying they would look to use his (underrated) rushing ability more often to move forward. The Jaguars have established more of a racing game (leaning on James Robinson) in Week 3 than they have throughout the season and it should continue to see an instant share and a volume similar to last week. It should be a high scoring affair based on recent TNF results and Lawrence’s attempts should be high. This is good news for Marvin Jones.
