It’s a new week for the Cincinnati Bengals, and the problems of the previous days are in the rearview mirror.
Sunday’s practice included several falls from Ja’Marr Chase and interceptions from Joe Burrow. Monday’s practice looked like the exact opposite.
To open things up, Chase, wearing a hoodie under his jersey in the 90-degree heat, donned some solid end zone holds during the red zone drills.
He later continued to work with shifts in the field for the second day in a row, getting extra work while his fellow receivers took their breaks between sessions.
I saw Ja’Marr Chase working on secondary ground with the #Bengal QB two days in a row during the special teams period while the rest of the WRs watch on the sidelines. He was one of the last players to leave the field yesterday. He’s clearly trying to do extra work

One hour of practice and no drop to report from Uno. He ended his rebound day with an impressive contested goal-catch.
Game of the day: In the red zone drills at the end of practice, Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase jumps, twists his torso and snatches a ball in the air for a touchdown inside the pylon close right. I received great applause from the players.

Needless to say, Chase needed that day to come. It was inevitable, but to see him arrive so soon after last week is obviously fantastic news.
It had been a tough few days for the first-round pick. We haven’t heard from Chase specifically since Friday night, we only know how he reacted to his adversities. He also seems to have a lot of support from his teammates. Ahead of practice, receivers Tyler Boyd and Tee Higgins spoke to the media and answered questions about Chase’s recent bouts.
Higgins, a rookie last year with high expectations, offered a great perspective on what Chase is going through.
The growth and maturity of the Higgins has been such a bright scenario this offseason. He’s on track to really build what was an impressive rookie year last season. He proved it again on Monday by collecting a deep pass from Burrow.
Best deep ball connection in camp for Joe Burrow on Monday. He backed up and threw a 40-yard dime at Tee Higgins over Jessie Bates and Vonn Bell.
Perfect execution for a TD in 11 of 11.

And on the subject of Burrow, he put yesterday’s interceptions behind him as well. He involved all three of his starting receivers and didn’t seem to have a lot of his throws on the ground.
Ja’Marr Chase didn’t drop a pass today. Overall, the #Bengales WR had a good day – several assists to Boyd, Higgins with the game of the day and a strong performance from Chase to end the day with a contested take

If Burrow is mentally ready to play is what kept him out of the preseason, he seems to erase those doubts after every practice. We still don’t know for sure if he will play this next Sunday. Whatever decision is made, he looks set to make a comeback.
Finally … Ohio Governor Mike DeWine was in training?
Good then.
