While a 65-inch TV remains an ever popular size, if you’re feeling up for an upgrade the most common next step is to check out the 75 inch models. It is a size available in many best TV series we review at CNET – even those fancy OLED TVs (technically they’re 77 inches, but they’re still included in this list).
If you choose between a great 65-inch model or a 75-inch package that performs a little less well, but has a comparable cost – don’t be afraid to go big! More than a slight increase in color accuracy, picture quality, viewing angle, or any smart functionality, increasing the size of the TV screen is the best use of your money. However, I would not advise you to buy a 75 inch television which does not perform well enough for you. This is where reviews come in: to help you decide how much money to spend.
The list below represents the best TVs I reviewed in CNET’s test lab, where I compare them side by side to see which one is more worth buying. In 2020, my TV lab is my basement, and as usual, I reviewed the 65 inch sizes in the series below. That said, the 75-inch versions are basically the same beyond screen size.
Here are my latest recommendations, which I update as I review new TVs, with the following notes to keep in mind.

The 2020 TCL 6 series delivers even better picture quality than its predecessor, thanks to mini-LED technology and well-implemented full local dimming that allows it to spin in circles around any other TV at this price point. . It’s also a solid choice for gamers with a new THX mode that combines low input lag and high contrast. As if that weren’t enough, the Roku TV operating system is our favorite. What are you saying? You just want the best TV in this size class, money not applicable? Here is. In my side-by-side tests, the LG CX 2020 is the best TV I have ever reviewed, barely beating its 2019 predecessor. OLED TVs are not available in a 75 inch size, this 77 inch model is therefore the closest equivalent. Read our review of the LG OLEDCXP (OLED77CXPUA) series.

Differentiating between the two models above in terms of price and picture quality, its TCL features Mini-LEDs, a technology not found on any other TV currently available. The result is superb picture quality that surpasses any other LCD TV we’ve tested, although it doesn’t quite hit OLED levels. And just like the 6 series above, it uses the Roku smart TV system. Samsung sells more TVs than anyone else and our favorite for 2020 is the Q80T series. Its sleek design stands out compared to other TVs on this list – although the ultra-thin LG CX OLED is even sleeker – and it also offers excellent picture quality, next-gen gaming connectivity, and excellent performance. smart TV system. Roku is our favorite platform for streaming apps like Netflix, and it’s integrated even better into this 75-inch TV. The picture quality on this TCL can’t beat any of the models above – its 4K UHD screen resolution and HDR compatibility do nothing to improve the picture – but it’s perfectly fine for most people, especially at this price. Other things to know about buying a new TV
I’m pretty sure you’d be happy with any of the above TVs, but a new smart TV can be a big investment, so maybe you’re looking for a bit more info. Here is a quick and dirty list.
- 2020 has been a strange year, and many new TVs are arriving late. A few of the TVs on this list are still 2019 models, but I plan to review more 2020 TVs soon.
- On the flip side, since TVs are generally mature technology, newer models may not include any major upgrades over the 2019 versions. Most buyers will still be perfectly happy with a 2019 TV, especially more than they are generally cheaper.
- If you don’t like the built-in smart TV system, you can always add a media player for more content. They’re inexpensive and easy to use, and get updates more frequently than most smart TVs. Check Out the Best Media Streamers Here.
