Best and Worst Sketches – / Movie

Saturday Night Live closed 2020 with a festive and fun Christmas episode hosted by a veteran cast member and Wonder Woman 1984 co-starring Kristen Wiig. It was the last SNL before the presidential inauguration, we gave new hope for a year that would not be so full of nightmarish days.

With the first SNL of 2021, you can feel this rejuvenation with the host for the first time John krasinski to get on stage. Maybe that’s because there’s barely any talk about the former president of the United States, but this episode was full of energy, and even the bad sketches were full of life, even if they weren’t floundering. on the side of comedy.

The loser – It’s time Andrew Dismukes had a chance to shine. Even though this is mostly John Krasinski’s sketch, as the brother he tries to defend Dismukes has some really fun interludes as the embarrassing monologue continues. This sketch got me rolling. The endless list of weird flaws, especially the detailed description of what is wrong with the little brother’s genitals, is pure gold. I wish the last joke was a little stronger, but there’s no denying it was the best of the night.

twins – At first I was a little worried that there would be another skit dealing with the stock market situation on Reddit after it had already been covered and needed in the open. Thankfully, that turned into something much better, using the now common scenario of cable interviews taking place from the homes of various anchors, analysts and experts. Kate McKinnon and Mikey Day are just as terrifying and funny as these unnerving twins, and Beck Bennett’s growing fear combined with Cecily Strong’s nonchalant rejection only makes him better.

Metro location – Anytime Beck Bennett puts a little New York or Chicago badass accent, I know I’m probably going to love a sketch. Add John Krasinski doing the same, and I fully agree. The fact that the sketch is for the Sunday commercial only makes the procedure even more fun. Childlike escalation and confrontation with young people, a new publicity discourse is expected, but that doesn’t make it any less funny.
