Bettor loses $ 110,000 on Wyoming against UConn

Wagering over $ 100,000 on Wyoming didn’t work out for a BetMGM bettor on Saturday.

The Cowboys were favored by 31 points heading into their Week 4 game at UConn. The gap was not unreasonable. UConn is perhaps the worst team at the highest level in college football. The Huskies entered the game 0-4 and had lost all four games by a combined score of 184-49. The closest match was a 38-28 loss to opponents FCS Holy Cross.

This punter saw what happened in UConn’s first four games and decided to bet $ 110,000 over Wyoming to cover the spread. And guess what? UConn has played his game of the season.

Wyoming came close to covering in a 24-22 victory. The Cowboys trailed for most of the game before scoring 21 points in the second half and coming back from a 13-3 deficit at halftime.

The Cowboys increased their lead to eight with 3:34 left when Titus Swen scored on a two-yard rush. It seemed like the end of the game given UConn’s futility so far this season. But the Huskies roamed the field – well, they crawled it – in a 64-yard run that took 15 plays. Nathan Carter scored on a two-yard rush with four seconds left. But the egalitarian two-point conversion fell through.

There are few moral victories in football, but UConn is definitely one of them. After all, the Huskies are on hiatus from the 2020 season and have already parted ways with coach Randy Edsall this season. It doesn’t mean much to this bettor, however. He or she wanted Wyoming to hit UConn.
