The jeweler whose six-figure Richard Mille watch was stolen in a daylight robbery in Beverly Hills is offering a reward of $ 50,000 for the return of the watch, according to a new report.
Shay Belhassen is hoping to get his rare $ 500,000 rose gold watch back before it hits the market – though he doubts it will be resold soon thanks to the publicity the brazen heist has garnered.
“This is a very rare watch, so anyone who is offered will know they are being offered stolen items,” he told the Los Angeles Times.
Last week, Belhassen told the Post he was sitting with a client at the celebrity hotspot Il Pastaio on Thursday afternoon when three armed thieves came up behind him and took their step to slide off the celebrity’s beloved watch – a Flyback in pink gold RM 11-03 Chronograph.
He grabbed the gun and knocked the suspects to the ground, but one still escaped with the expensive part, he said.
Four shots rang out during the fight – and one of the slugs hit a woman in the leg while she was having dinner with her boyfriend.
Beverly Hills police said they believed the suspects had targeted Belhassen for the luxury accessory.
The jeweler told the LA Times he was angry because similar crimes have occurred in the area in recent weeks, and few have garnered as much attention as this one.
Thefts in which shots were fired have increased in the area – and many suspects are targeting high-end watches in the nearby Wilshire area, the newspaper said.
