  • Beyoncé and Jay-Z, also known as The Carters, won the BRIT Award for Best International Group today.
  • The couple accepted the honor with a video as they were absent from the awards ceremony.
  • The clip shows the duo in front of a majestic portrait of Meghan Markle, recreating their pose in front of the Mona Lisa in their video "Apesh ** t" at the Louvre.

Musical royalty has met with real royalty at the BRIT Awards today. Beyoncé and Jay-Z (AKA The Carters) have won tonight the honor of the best international band at the UK-based Music Awards. Although they did not attend the ceremony, they made up for their absence by an epic video where they delivered brief speeches of acceptance before a majestic portrait of Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex.

"Thank you very much to the BRIT Awards for this incredible honor," said Bey, holding the trophy in front of the board. "You have always been so supportive, everything is love, thank you."

    "You're welcome," jokes Jay-Z.

The couple do not mention the duchess by name, but at the end of the video, they turn to face the framed drawing, which represents Meghan in a crown, beaded beads and a voluminous dress worthy of royalties . The piece is from the illustrator Tim O. Brien.

The painting is probably a reference to the music video of the couple "Apesh ** t", which was shot in the Louvre and includes an iconic image of the couple standing in front of the Mona Lisa. The Carters dressed in colorful costumes for their video of acceptance, as they did in the French museum. (Bey wore both Peter Pilotto's look.) The couple also sat in front of Da Vinci's legendary painting in 2014.

Meghan Markle is currently celebrating her baby shower in New York with close friends, but we are dying to find out how the royal king reacted to Queen Bey's epic cry.
