A New Orleans mansion in the Garden District believed to be owned by megastars Beyoncé and Jay-Z caught fire on Wednesday night.
According to reports, the blaze started at the historic $ 2.4 million property at 6:15 p.m. local time and had been completely extinguished about two hours later after 22 firefighters arrived at the scene.

A spokesperson for the fire department told the New York Post: “If they didn’t show up when they did, it could have been a lot worse. It is a historic house.
Nola.com was the first to report that the three-story Spanish Baroque property was owned by Beyoncé and her husband Jay-Z, 51.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined but was brought under control at 7 p.m. and only reached the fire status of an alarm.

Built in 1927 as the Presbyterian Church of Westminster, the spacious property has six bedrooms and six and a half bathrooms, covering 15,200 square feet.
According to Realtor.com, before it was turned into a home in 2000, it was used by a ballet company of eight dancers.
The property also features gorgeous hardwood floors from top to bottom, rich red details, elaborate chandeliers, and an alluring antique clawfoot tub.

Another attractive feature is the rooftop garden – reportedly the largest in all of New Orleans – which helps keep the rooms below cooler in the summer while still providing excellent views of the city.
The mansion also has 24 foot ceilings and an open concept staircase leads to the upper floors.
The master suite seems fit for a queen with a romantic chandelier, dark red walls, and tall windows.
And the master bathroom – besides the striking bathtub – has beautifully designed tile floors and a crescent-shaped window bathes the space in light.

One of the other separate internal residences features a more quaint kitchen with white cabinets and blue counters.
The full extent of the damage caused by the fire is not yet known.
