Most of the characters in Bridgerton are fictitious, but Queen Charlotte was a real figure and does not appear in the Bridgerton novels. Guyanese-British actor Golda Rosheuvel plays Queen Charlotte, who was a real person.
Queen Charlotte was the wife of King George III. According to PBS, some historians believe Queen Charlotte was a descendant of a Portuguese royal family of African descent.
In Bridgerton, Queen Charlotte is a social butterfly who revel in the scandals of society and stay on top of everything that is happening in the city. Her approval by the women of the city is drained afterwards, although it is difficult to win.

As for what Rosheuvel thinks of her role, she marvels at the idea of a black queen fighting for social change, telling Insider, “It’s so empowering for an actress to have this experience and this. feeling that a person in the 1800s could have fought for his people and could have fought for representation.
Queen Charlotte’s Beyoncé-inspired hair in Bridgerton
Apparently, Beyoncé’s influence goes beyond these days as the hairdressing department is working on Bridgerton felt that one of Beyoncé’s classic looks was suitable for the Regency-style Netflix series.

“When I researched Queen Charlotte and found out that she was of African descent, it gave me a lot more possibilities to create her beautiful looks,” Pilcher told Vogue. “I used the silhouettes of the time but to celebrate her ethnicity I used afro-textured locks, braids and styles. Her giant Afro was shaped like a Gainsborough wig, but influenced by Beyoncé as Foxxy Cleopatra in Austin Powers in Goldmember.

He shared a similar explanation with Essence, saying:
I was going through some pictures and then I saw Beyoncé Knowles in Austin Powers Goldmember and that’s when I thought, “This is what I want. I wanted the biggest afro anyone had ever seen. This particular wig was actually four or five wigs all put together. So we got the wigs for the curls, then we bought some afros, then straightened and reset them on curl sticks and brushed them to get the best volume of afro, then sewn them together. on the others just to get that nice shape.

Pilcher revealed to Essence that the wig took three or four weeks to create, but the result was well worth it.
