Southeastern Grocers, the parent company of Bi-Lo and other grocers, announced Thursday the closing of four underperforming stores in northeastern South Carolina.
The following stores will be affected:
2199 Southport Road, Spartanburg
2700 Gentry Memorial Highway, Pickens
1315 S. Pleasantburg Drive, Greenville
14154 E. Wade Hampton Blvd., Greer
"We are aware that closing an underperforming store in your community can be a challenge," said Joe Caldwell, director of corporate communications, in a statement.
"We do not take these decisions lightly and make this difficult choice only after a thorough review of its impact on our associates and our customers."
The closure of the four stores may affect some employees. Caldwell's statement says that they were the first to be informed of the decision.
The closing process of a store usually does not take more than 30 days.
The company has announced that it will share "regularly" the details of the discounts on the remaining products.
The stores will close on March 25th.
