On Sunday around 7:20 am, police responded to several calls to 911 in Utica, NY, about a suicidal man alleged to have killed a woman, the department said. .

The suspect then lay on a tarp on the floor. Police said the officer saw brown hair protruding under the tarpaulin and that the suspect had confirmed that they belonged to the woman that he had injured.

The police identified the victim as being Devins. She had many neck injuries, they said.

The couple met two months ago

The police said that the two men met on Instagram about two months ago and that their relationship was strengthened.

The couple were returning from a concert in New York shortly after 10 pm. Saturday. Police said that an argument between the two men had precipitated his death.

"It is thought that he took and distributed photographs of the murder on the Discord platform," police said. Discord is a text and video chat application for gamers.

Discord members who viewed the images and publications contacted the Utica Police Department.

The suspect, identified by the police as Brandon Clark, 21, has undergone emergency surgery and is expected to live, police said.

The charges will come after officials question him, they said. CNN has not been able to determine whether Clark retained the services of a lawyer.

Devin expected to go to university in the fall

Devins' family issued a police statement thanking friends and family for their prayers.
