Republican governors in Texas and Mississippi announced the lifting of their mask warrants this week, before states finished vaccinating the elderly and vulnerable populations. “I think that’s a big mistake,” the president told reporters Wednesday at the White House. “Look, I hope everyone has realized by now, these masks are making a difference. The president has constantly reminded Americans to wear masks and insisted on wearing one himself, even after receiving both doses of the vaccine. He urged all Americans to wear a mask during his first 100 days in office – although health officials believe Americans will have to wear masks for longer.
Like everywhere else, businesses in Texas and Mississippi will still be able to require customers to wear masks, and under Mr. Biden’s authority, everyone on federal property in those states will continue to need to wear a mask.
