Biden heckled at Terry McAuliffe’s rally, plagued by another small crowd

President Biden was heckled by an audience member during an appearance in Virginia on Friday and interrupted his speech to address the individual.

“It’s okay, it’s okay, let him talk,” Biden said as the crowd started to stir when an unknown individual started yelling behind his back.

“Look, this is not a Trump rally, let him shout, no one is paying attention,” he added, making Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe, the Democrat laugh and applaud. Biden was there to support him.

It was not clear what the individual was shouting, but reporters on site suggested he said “Stop Line 3!” in reference to an Enbridge pipeline project.

Biden was in Virginia raising money for McAuliffe, who was previously Governor of the Commonwealth from 2014 to 2018. He is now running against Republican businessman Glenn Youngkin, who is backed by Donald Trump, for the job.

“Terry and I share a lot of things in common – I ran against Donald Trump and Terry too,” Biden said. “And I whipped Donald Trump in Virginia and Terry too.”

A recent poll shows McAuliffe with a narrow four-point lead over Youngkin.

About 500 people attended the event, which left the venue roughly half empty. On YouTube, less than 500 people were watching the main channel broadcasting the event’s channel at any given time.

The paltry size of the crowd reflected an event earlier this week at a CNN town hall event where Biden was criticized for speaking to a half-empty room.
