President Joe Biden foreshadowed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines recommending that children under 12 who are not eligible for a coronavirus vaccine wear a face covering to school.
“Everyone over the age of 12 should probably wear a mask at school. That’s probably what’s going to happen,” Biden said Wednesday at a televised town hall.

According to Biden, people over the age of 12 eligible for one of the three COVID-19 vaccines that have obtained emergency clearance from the Food and Drug Administration but have not received their injections should also cover their faces with school. Still, the president was realistic, there could be issues with “mom or dad being honest”.
“It is a question of community responsibility,” he said.
Biden would not predict when children under 12 will become eligible for a jab, only saying it will be “soon.”
“I am not telling any scientist what to do. I am not intervening,” he said.
But the president revealed that it was “my expectation” that the FDA would provide final vaccine approval “at some point” between August and October.

Biden’s balance between the interests of students, parents, and teachers tripped his White House early in his tenure. Teacher unions pushed for their members to be vaccinated as their members returned to classrooms before the CDC decided there was no need to protect them from the virus.
