President-elect Biden’s choice for Office of Management and Budget (OMB) director raises eyebrows over alleged altercation she had with a progressive journalist over backing her former boss Hillary Clinton to the war in Iraq.

On Monday, Transition Biden announced that Neera Tanden, chair of the liberal think tank Center for American Progress, would be the president-elect’s candidate for OMB leader.

However, a 2019 New York Times report described an incident in 2008 when she was a senior advisor to Sen. Clinton in his first presidential race.

Tanden, according to the Times, accompanied Clinton on what was supposed to be an “easy interview” with ThinkProgress, the liberal website run by the Center for American Progress.

Faiz Shakir, editor-in-chief of ThinkProgress who was most recently campaign manager for Senator Bernie Sanders’ 2020 presidential candidacy, questioned the senator for voting in favor of the Iraq war.

“Ms. Tanden responded by returning to Mr. Shakir after the interview and, according to someone in the room, punching him in the chest,” The Times reported.

According to a recent interview with Tanden “still angry” at the time, she recalls, “I didn’t hit him, I pushed him.”

Transition Biden did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment. Fox News has also reached out to Shakir for comment.

Tanden’s appointment as OMB Director sparked a real backlash from both sides of the aisle. Tories slammed the Liberal Agent for touting the infamous Steele dossier during the Russia probe and promoted the unsubstantiated plot that Russia managed to hack the 2016 vote to give President Trump a victory .

Progressives have also spoken out against her nomination because she was an open opponent of Sanders in the Democratic primary.
