A new national poll suggests a three-way tie between Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and former Vice President Joe Biden in the race for the Democratic nomination for the presidency.
And the poll – released Monday by the University of Monmouth – indicates a massive drop for Biden, the leader of the nomination race since before he declared his candidacy at the end of the month of # 39; in April. It also reflects an increase in support for Sanders and Warren, the Democratic Party's two progressive outreach.

Sanders and Warren are both 20% in the poll, with Biden at 19%. The former vice president lost 13 percentage points over the 32 percent he held in June in Monmouth's last national poll on the Democratic nomination. Sanders gained six points from the June poll, while Warren won five.
The Biden campaign targeted the survey, telling reporters that "this poll is an aberration contradicted by any measure of the national average".
The campaign highlighted the average of the last national elections in the 2020 Democratic nomination contest, established by Real Clear Politics, which indicates that Biden holds a double-digit lead over Sanders and Warren, his two closest competitors.
"The main conclusion of this poll is that the race for democracy has become volatile," said Patrick Murray, director of the Monmouth University Survey Institute.
"Liberal voters are starting to look for a candidate they can identify with," Murray said, "Moderate voters, who pay less attention, seem to express doubts about Biden. 'one of the leftist candidates, reputed for their reputation, only to a less known candidate who could be more in line with them politically.'
The poll suggests that Biden "suffered a general drop" with a 14-point drop from June to August with White Democrats, a 17-point free fall among voters without a university degree, a 14-point drop in men, a the number of women decreases and the number of voters aged 50 and over drops by nine points. It also rose from 40% in June to 22% among Democrats who consider themselves moderate or conservative.

Most of the support lost by Biden in these groups was transferred almost equally to Sanders and Warren.
Senator Kamala Harris of California is fourth in Monmouth at 8%, while Senators Cory Booker of New Jersey and South Bend, in Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, are both at 4%. Entrepreneur Andrew York is 3%, former Texas representative Beto O'Rourke, former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro, and successful spiritual writer Marianne Williamson at 2% each . All other respondents in the survey registered at 1% or less.

The Monmouth University survey was conducted from August 16-20, with 800 adult Canadians surveyed by live telephone operators. The results of the Democratic presidential nomination race are based on 298 registered voters who identified themselves as Democrats or who turned to the Democratic Party – and who have a sampling error of plus or minus 5 , 7 percentage points.
