Former White House senior adviser Stephen Miller warned Thursday that the Biden administration was causing a “self-inflicted” public health crisis at the US-Mexico border after new policies allowed potentially positive migrants to the COVID in the country.
“It has taken the border patrol from the basic tools it needs to keep this country safe,” Miller said in a “Fox & Friends” interview. “That’s why you see what you see.”
Miller was referring to a 152% increase in the number of expected illegal border crossings, including 700 children at the border without parental or adult supervision.

Miller added that the establishment of a “tent city” on the border and the reinstated release policies force migrant children to come into contact with human and drug traffickers.
The former White House adviser also said that under President Trump, immigrant minors were returned safely to their home countries with their families, instead of traveling and being detained in some of the “worst [living] imaginable conditions. “
The Biden administration announced this week that it had opened a soft-sided facility for immigrants in Donna, Texas, as Republican lawmakers warned of a “growing crisis” at the border.
As previously reported by Fox News, the Department of Health and Human Services also plans to reactivate a temporary care facility in Carrizo Springs, Texas, for the potential care of unaccompanied children detained at the Southwestern border of the country.

In a letter to the Biden administration, GOP lawmakers called for a briefing and warned of rising illegal immigration, noting an increase in the average daily flow of immigrants over the past month and an increase constant immigration since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. By law, the government is required to provide assistance to unaccompanied migrant minors under the age of 18 who are without a guardian in the United States.
