President Biden announced Monday that the “vast majority” of Americans would be eligible to receive their first COVID-19 vaccine by April 19.
“I am happy to report that at least 90% of all adults in this country will be eligible to be vaccinated by April 19, in just three weeks, because we have the vaccines. For the overwhelming majority of adults, you won’t have to wait until May 1, ”said the president.

Biden also announced that he is leading his administration to ensure there is a vaccination site within five miles of 90% of all Americans by the same date.
Biden touted that “we’re on track this week, just 10 weeks after I took the presidency, for nearly 75% of Americans over 65 to receive at least one vaccine. When I took my functions on January 20, that the number was 8% “
And his message to people aged 65 and over: “Seniors, if you haven’t had your chance yet, take it this week.”

But the president warned that “our job is far from over. The war on COVID-19 is far from won. It is extremely serious.”

And he stressed that “I reiterate my call to every governor, mayor and local leader to maintain and reinstate the mask mandate. Please, this is not politics. Reinstate the mandate if you let it. fall.”
Biden noted that “the cases [are] again, new variants are spreading and unfortunately some of the reckless behavior we’ve seen on TV over the past few weeks means new cases are set to emerge in the weeks to come. “
