Biden says ‘in all probability’ there will be further COVID-19 restrictions

President Joe Biden has signaled the start of more restrictions to stem the spread of COVID-19 as the highly contagious delta variant tears apart across the country.

Leaving for Camp David on Friday, the commander-in-chief shouted a response to a reporter who asked if people should expect more stringent restraints than those already in place.

“In all probability,” he replied.

It comes after the White House downplayed Biden’s importance, stoking speculation his administration was open to a nationwide mandate for coronavirus vaccines. Senior spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre said such a decision was not being considered “for the moment”.

Yet Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, told Fox News on Friday that she believed the Biden administration was “search in” the possibility of a federal mandate on vaccines.

Meanwhile, states and localities are taking their own steps, reimposing mask warrants that have been lifted in recent months, as the CDC calls for new precautions, even for those who are fully immunized.

Biden also said Thursday was a “good day” in terms of the higher number of people vaccinated against the virus.
