A senior adviser to President-elect Joe Biden tore himself apart on Facebook in a Twitter thread.
“If you thought Facebook disinformation was a problem when we were elected, wait and see how it destroys the fabric of our democracy in the days that follow,” Bill Russo, deputy director of communications for the press team from Biden’s campaign, tweeted Monday evening.
Russo then attacked Facebook in eight tweets for allowing violent and deceptive content to flourish on the platform within a week of election day.
He referred to a video in which Steve Bannon called for the head of Dr Anthony Fauci and the proliferation of “Stop the Steal” Facebook groups.

He specifically criticized Facebook’s decision to allow the broad sharing of President Donald Trump’s posts labeled as disinformation – while Twitter imposed restrictions on tagged tweets, meaning they could not be retweeted.
Facebook began limiting the distribution of posts, rather than just flagging them, on Thursday after election day.
“We Knew This Was Coming,” Russo Thread concluded. “We have been begging Facebook for over a year to be serious about these issues. They haven’t. Our democracy is at stake. We need answers.”

This isn’t the first time Russo has come after Facebook. On Sunday, he reposted a tweet from actor Sacha Baron Cohen with a photo of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg shaking hands with Donald Trump, captioned “one down, one to go.”
Russo added the words “Hell yeah” to his retweet, which was quickly deleted.
The fact that Russo has now doubled down with a long thread detailing Facebook’s failures is a worrying sign for the social media giant, which is surely gearing up for attempts to regulate it by a Biden administration.
Biden told the New York Times in January that he wanted to revoke Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, part of U.S. law that grants broad liability guarantees to tech companies for content posted on their platforms.
In this interview, Biden made reference to Facebook and the spread of disinformation on the platform. “He should be dismissed because [Facebook] is not just an Internet company, ”he said. She spreads lies that they know to be false. “
Russo’s tweets reinforce the feeling that the Biden administration could make the next four years uncomfortable for Facebook.
Facebook did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider.
