President Biden had a bizarre and affectionate moment Monday during a videoconference event with healthcare workers in Arizona, in which he stopped to praise a nurse on her youthful appearance – even gushing that she looks like “a first year”.
Biden got back to some of his old “scary” antics when he responded to the nursing supervisor’s detailed description of kicking out COVID-19 by asking him his age.
“Are you a freshman in college?” Biden asked Brittney Hayes at the end of a conversation in which she outlined the process of getting vaccines to people at the State Farm Stadium vaccination site in Glendale.
“No. No,” said Hayes, who described herself as being from Arizona State University at the start of the conference – but made it clear that she was “the head nurse” of the vaccination site.
“You look like a freshman!” Biden said laughing.
“Why thank you,” she said through her mask.

After Vice President Kamala Harris in turn asked questions, Biden continued to show disbelief that Hayes was a medical professional.
