Biden's eye fills with blood during CNN town hall on climate

The left eye of former Vice President Joe Biden appeared to have a blood vessel burst while he was attending CNN's town hall on climate change.

Biden has long been plagued by health problems. In 1988, he had an aneurysm that broke out and required emergency surgery. The senator of the time was so close to death that a Catholic priest began to prepare to administer the sacrament of the last sacraments.

A few months later, the surgeons cut a second aneurysm before it exploded. Biden then took a seven-month Senate leave as a result of the operation. He described the operation as "they literally had to take my head off."

The doctors withdrew a benign polyp during a colonoscopy in 1996. In 2003, Biden had his gall bladder removed. He also suffers from asthma and allergies and takes a prescription medication to lower his cholesterol levels. He also took medication for an enlarged prostate.

Biden has not disclosed his medical history since 2008, when doctors discovered he had an irregular heartbeat.
