Saturday is the biggest day of the Rose Festival, which begins with the coronation of the new queen of Rosaria, followed by the grand parade of flowers.

CORONATION: Mya Brazile of St. Mary's Academy was crowned Queen of Rosaria in 2019. The Queen's coronation began at 8:30 am inside the Coliseum Veterans Memorial. She was chosen among the 15 princesses of the Rose Festival nominated in March and made appearances on behalf of the festival this spring.

PARADE: Spirit Mountain Casino's grand floral parade has taken place from the Memorial Coliseum to Veterans, Burnside Bridge and downtown Portland to end at Lincoln High School. Take a look at the floats at the beginning of the parade below and in the dozens of photos of our photographers in the gallery above.

Here is the parade route:

TRAFFIC: The streets are closed along the parade route and the Burnside Bridge will be closed to traffic. The TriMet service will operate on Saturdays, with six additional MAX trains to allow people to and from the parade. MAX and the bus lines will have to stop from time to time to let the parade pass, so give yourself more time and expect delays in town. Lines 4, 12, 15, 16, 17, 19, 20, 24, 35, 44 and 54/56 will be diverted from the start of service today. Line 6 will be diverted from around 7:30 am See trimet.org/alerts for more details. And check out TriMet's travel tips today.

WEATHER A covered Saturday morning in Portland should turn into a hot and sunny late afternoon with a maximum of 70 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. But the parade is expected to start in mid-fifties, depending on the service.

MORE ON THE PARADE: Have you seen the three heroes of the Rose Festival as Grand Marshal? They are Ron and Beverly Burback of Funtastic Traveling Shows, Stacey Flinjter and his father, Vern Hulit, designers of modern equestrian demonstrations, and Sheila Holden, founder of the Rose Festival Court Mentorship Program.

CANBY WALKER: The Canby fanfare, invited to the Grand Floral after missing the Starlight Parade last weekend due to confusion in transportation, took the opportunity to move on to action while She was climbing to the back of the Grand Floral parade. Eder Campuzano tells their story.
