HBO released Sunday a new teaser for the second season of its award-winning Emmy series Big Little Lies – and revealed that the show will be officially premiered on June 9th.

"We fool ourselves if we think people will stop talking," says Celeste Wright, the character of Nicole Kidman, just before an indeterminate voice intervenes and says, "You are the only one. one of the Monterey Five, is not it? "

The trailer immediately shows that women are struggling to adapt to their new lives as possible suspects of Perry Wright's death, played by Alexander Skarsgård, Celeste's violent husband.

A newcomer to the cast, the inimitable actor Meryl Streep – who plays Perry's mother, Mary Louise Wright -, three-time Oscar winner, shines in the teaser.

"My son is dead," she tells Reese Witherspoon, who plays Madeline Martha Mackenzie.

"And I want to know what happened that night," continues Streep. "Very tempted to ask you, but I do not think I would have the truth, is not it?"

Streep was so eager to join the hit that she signed without consulting a screenplay.

Zoë Kravitz (Bonnie Carlson), Shailene Woodley (Jane Chapman) and Laura Dern (Renata Klein) will be back for the upcoming season.

In the past, HBO had stated that the new season of the show would focus on "the malignity of lies, the sustainability of friendships, the fragility of marriage and, of course, the ferocious ferocity of a healthy education" .

Kidman and Witherspoon will be the executive producers of the show with David E. Kelly. The series will be directed by Andrea Arnold, unlike Jean-Marc Vallée, who led the first season.

In 2017, the show was nominated for an impressive 16 Emmys, winning eight awards, including the award for exceptional limited editions.
