New England Patriots fans have done it again.
And this time around, it didn’t take an NFL player to be released, or even a player reported in trade rumors. All it took was a little post-game interaction between one of the best coaches in the game and the best receivers in the league.
Speculation started from a photo showing Patriots head coach Bill Belichick chatting with Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins after New England’s 20-17 win at Gillette Stadium.
The picture, tweeted by NFL Network’s Michael Giardi, sparked a backlash on Twitter, with many fans hoping it could mean Hopkins one day lands in New England.
Here’s what some had to say:
Hopkins, as you probably remember, was traded to Arizona by the Houston Texans in the last offseason. It was a decision widely criticized at the time and one that has looked worse and worse in recent weeks.
The Belichick Patriots drop to 5-6 with their most recent victory while the Hopkins Cardinals drop to 6-5.
