Bill Gates commented positively on Elon Musk’s efforts to tackle climate change, and the comments came right after Musk accused Gates of bypassing Tesla (TSLA).
As we’ve previously reported, Musk and Gates don’t always agree.
Gates has previously commented that electric trucks like the Tesla Semi weren’t viable, and Musk recently countered those comments, but he also added that he believed Gates had a big short position in Tesla ( TSLA) at some point.
Just a week after making the claim, which was unconfirmed by Gates, the billionaire had good words about Musk and Tesla.
Gates said, when asked about Musk on the To balance Podcast:
Well, it’s important to say that what Elon did with Tesla is one of the greatest contributions to climate change that has ever been made.
The Microsoft founder also added that people shouldn’t underestimate him:
And you know, underestimating Elon is not a good idea.
Did he learn this the hard way by betting against Tesla? We don’t know because Gates didn’t respond to Musk’s claim he bypassed Tesla.
The podcast may have been taped before Musk made the statement on the Joe Rogan podcast last week.
Tesla has at times been the top-selling stock on the Nasdaq, and people betting against the electric automaker lost $ 38 billion in 2020 alone.

As I stated in the original report on Elon’s claim, I don’t think Gates would be the type to bypass Tesla, but you never know.
He didn’t comment on it, but like I said, this podcast could have been taped before Elon’s claim.
It’s interesting that he said don’t underestimate him, but I wouldn’t read much about it.
