Bill Maher has a few questions about mask policy at the Met Gala.

The star-studded event, held on September 13 and hosted by Timothée Chalamet, Billie Eilish, Amanda Gorman, Naomi Osaka, has returned after its 2020 event was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. This year, the gala was held with some safety measures in place: according to a Met spokesperson, and wearing a mask inside when not eating or drinking.

As vaccinations were imposed, the commentator took to his HBO show Real time with Bill Maher wondering why photos of the event showed stars without masks, while waiters and others working on the event were seen with face covers on.

“I have seen, having attended a few parties since the start of the pandemic, and that is, people who go to parties do not wear masks. But the waiters wear masks, ”Maher said in conversation with author Dan Savage and reporter Gillian Tett about the Met Gala. “There is something in this that is not liberal for me. These are the liberal swells of the world. But if we are all vaccinated, do germs know who the right people are ?! It seems a bit wrong. “

While Maher is not alone Speaking of the gala, it should be noted that an indoor mask warrant was reportedly applied at the event. Red carpet photos are taken outside, on the steps leading up to the gala, however, photographs are not permitted inside the event.

Savage acknowledged that the policy seemed “a bit safe,” while stressing that any degree of mask wearing can reduce transmission.

Maher, however, noted: “But, ‘let’s make the aid wear the mask’? Is that the liberal approach?

In addition to challenging the mask policy, Maher called out Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s dress, which said “Tax the rich.”

While the host pointed out that “it’s not like we don’t tax the rich at all,” Savage and Tett countered, reminding Maher that the post was about growing income inequality and shouldn’t be taken at face value.
