Billie Eilish called her fellow stars who are undergoing plastic surgery and “denies it” in a recent interview with The Guardian.
The Grammy winner, 19, has been asked to explain “OverHeated”, the 10th track from her new album, “Happier Than Ever”.
In the song’s deck, Eilish addresses her body-shamers and says she won’t ‘redesign’ herself to fit an arbitrary ideal: “All those other inanimate bitches, that’s none of my business / But don’t you get bored of posing for pictures / With that plastic body? “
“‘OverHeated’ applies to all people who promote unattainable bodily standards,” she told The Guardian. “It’s totally okay to work – do this, do that, do what makes you happy. It’s just when you deny it and say, ‘Oh, I’ve got it all on my own, and if you just try. harder you could get it. ‘”
“It literally makes me furious,” she added. “It’s so bad for young women – and boys too – to see this.”
Eilish went on to talk about how social media can fuel insecurity, especially if you don’t know what looks natural.
“I see people online, like I’ve never watched,” she said. “And immediately I’m like, oh my gosh, what are they like? I know the ins and outs of this industry, and what people are actually using in photos, and I actually know what’s going on there? ‘real tune may be fake. Much of Eilish’s new album addresses sexism and double standards, especially for a woman in the spotlight. “OverHeated” is preceded by “Not My Responsibility”, a lyric interlude about Eilish’s experience with bodily negativity and slut shame.
Eilish said she had a “horrible bodily relationship” when she was younger and adopted her signature baggy wardrobe because she “hated” her body and didn’t want anyone in her. comment.
“When I’m on stage, I have to dissociate myself from the ideas I have about my body,” Eilish said. “Mainly because I wear clothes that are bigger and easier to move around without showing everything – they can be really unflattering.
