Billie Eilish, 17, is the first person born after 2000 to have an album at the top of the charts. Billboard also reports that the artist had the second-largest opening in 2019, just after that of Ariana Grande. Thank you U, Next. On Saturday night at Coachella, she showed the audience exactly why she deserved to perform at a prime location of the music festival and why she was not that an over-expressed artist.

Diehard fans, as well as curious festival goers, camped for the artist well before the appointed time. A crowd quickly began to form, and even expanded from the outdoor theater scene to the festival's main stage, a space reserved for stars of Coachella's second day, Tame Impala.

And although Eilish is 20 minutes late on his set, the crowd does not falter. The singer-songwriter has sung all her hit songs from her recently released first album, When we fall asleep, where are we going?, kick off with "Bad Guy".

A good chunk of the set was a lot of energy, especially for "My Strange Addiction" and "idontwannabeyouanymore", but there were clearly slow ballads in the mix, including "Ocean Eyes". During part of her performance, she also sat on a hanging bed singing "Bury A Friend".

Everywhere, the fans sang with her, following the words word by word. "I do not deserve it at all," she told the crowd later. And towards the end of her set, she says, "I just want us all in the moment."
