Billie Eilish has revealed she has 16 new songs in the works with her brother and producer Finneas.

In the fourth edition of his annual retrospective interview with Vanity Fair, Eilish, now 18, opened up about identity, using her platform for good, the tumultuous year that was 2020 and the way she fills time – working on new music.

“Right now I’m 16,” the singer replied when asked how many songs she was currently working on. “We have been job. And I love them all.

Eilish also spoke of feeling more confident in her songwriting abilities, standing up for herself and communicating her ideas.

“I think Finneas and I really got into the groove. We’re doing it so fast, ”she explained.

“There was a period of time, a month ago or something, we just texted the label like, ‘Song finished, another song finished, another song finished.’ So I’m so much better at it. I love him so much more. I actually really enjoy it now and feel like I’m pretty good at it now.

Elsewhere in the interview, Eilish discussed her favorite artists of the moment – Arlo Parks, Ashnikko, and The Strokes’ latest album, The New Abnormal.

Echoing comments she made during a recent interview with Zane Lowe, the singer also referred to a time of identity crisis and feeling like a “parody of [herself]”.

“It’s like, you forget, I’m literally 18. It’s funny that people expect me to find myself and stick to that. It’s like, I don’t know, I try different things, I try different ways of life and styles and personalities, hairstyles and clothes and shoes, I just try everything, because I’m a fucking growing up girl.

Last month, Eilish shared the new single “ So I Am, ” playing it for the first time at this year’s AMAs.

In a five-star review, NME praised Eilish’s continuous sound experimentation and called his introspective lyricism “a fascinating thread of his music”.

“She’s not alone in this approach, but few do it so bluntly – her level of self-awareness continues to lead to truly addicting songwriting.”

Earlier this month, Eilish was also nominated for a handful of Grammy Awards for her track “Everything I Wanted,” including Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.
