Bobby Axelrod conceded.

Emmy winner Damian Lewis has ended his five seasons Billion participate in the Showtime drama season finale Sunday night.

In the finale, Bobby went on the run to Switzerland to escape the legal reach of Paul Giamatti’s state attorney general, Chuck Rhoades. Axelrod told billionaire rival Mike Prince (played by Corey Stoll), who now owns all of his businesses, “So that’s what it’s like to lose.”

The billionaire-run Showtime series has already been renewed for a sixth season (watch full trailer above), in which Stoll’s Prince will take the lead as a new series regular. In the wake of Lewis’ exit, the cable operator announced that the drama would return on Sunday, Jan.23 at 9 / 8c.

“What an incredible joy to spend five years working so closely with the great @lewis_damian! Co-creator / showrunner Brian Koppelman said on Twitter. “[Co-creator] @DavidLevien and I are more than grateful to you, Damian, for the work, of course, and the fellowship, and for all that you have sacrificed to come and do it with us. (Lewis’s wife, actress Helen McCrory, died of cancer in April.)

As we find the Prince of Stoll tall and responsible in Season 6, Paul Giamatti’s Rhoades “must develop a new strategy that is sharper and more sophisticated than before,” the official description reads. “All players, from Wags (played by David Costabile) to Wendy (Maggie Siff), from Taylor (Asia Kate Dillon) to Sacker (Condola Rashad), and of course Senior (Jeffrey DeMunn), need to sharpen their weapons and look for new alliances to survive The terrain is constantly changing and the stakes are absolute New king, new war, new rules.

In addition to the previously announced promotion of Stoll, Daniel Breaker (Girls5eva), who plays Prince Scooter’s chief of staff, has also been elevated to series regular.
