Bills elevate Kenny Stills to AFC Championship against Chiefs

Josh Allen will have a new weapon when he takes on the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Buffalo Bills announced on Saturday that they are raising wide receiver Kenny Stills from their practice team for the AFC Championship game on Sunday. Cornerback Dan Jackson will be the other elevation of the team’s practice squad.

Stills is now set to get his first game action in a Bills uniform after signing with the team’s practice squad earlier this month. Prior to that, Stills had been released by the Houston Texans after falling out of favor on the team’s offense, posting just 40 receiving yards in his last five combined games with the team.

Stills is in his eighth season in the NFL, after playing for the Miami Dolphins and New Orleans Saints. He landed with the Texans as part of Laremy Tunsil’s trade.

When it comes to late season free agents and practice squad players, the Bills have tremendous potential value with Stills. Heading into the 2020 season, the 28-year-old averaged 42.7 receptions, 671.3 receiving yards and 5.1 touchdowns per season over his career with three different teams. Those numbers would all rank third among bills receiving bodies this year.

Typically used as a big game burner, it’s not hard to see how Stills might fit into an attack led by Allen, the owner of one of the NFL’s strongest arms. The receiver is also a potential need for the Bills right now, as No.2 receiver Cole Beasley (knee) and No.3 receiver Gabriel Davis (ankle) have recently suffered injuries.
