Cut a dime is cut.
The Buffalo Bills leave the LeSean McCoy era on Saturday.
The team frees the veteran running back, said Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network Insider.
ESPN first reported the news.
McCoy has spent the last four seasons in Buffalo after six seasons in Philadelphia.
This move is not a surprise from the point of view of age, production and remuneration. McCoy, 31, has just experienced the worst statistical season of his 10-year career. In 14 games in 2018, the back has produced 514 yards, averaging 3.2 yards per run over 28 yards (all career low) and only three touchdowns. Determined to count $ 9.05 million against the Bills salary cap with a base salary of $ 6.175 million, McCoy's cost was higher than his production.
Buffalo will save $ 6.425 million by dropping the RB, per over the cap.
The move is a surprise if you have only listened to the bill tops flicker several times for the veteran running back this season. Head Coach Sean McDermott and General Manager Brandon Beane both frequently suggested that McCoy would be the leader in the overcrowded committee and that he still had a lot in his legs.

McCoy has not been effective in recent seasons and certainly not compared to his contract. The Bills also imported future Hall of Fame member Frank Gore and rookie Devin Singletary in the third round. Singletary impressed during the camp and preseason and should benefit tremendously from McCoy's Cup.
The Bills should not miss a beat with a Gore and Singletary backfield, and maybe a pass to catch up with T.J. Yeldon, though he survives the cuts.
For McCoy, he should find a landing point with a needy RB team (hello, Houston?) But will not earn the same salary as expected in Buffalo.
