For the first time in nearly 30 years, the Buffalo Bills return to the AFC Championship game. Played with the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday night, the conference’s No.2 contenders weren’t perfect in breezy Orchard Park. Josh Allen and Co. managed just three points in an irregular first half, and even after Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson exited in the fourth quarter with a concussion, the Bills nearly allowed the Substitute rookie Tyler Huntley to shoot Baltimore in a score. Still, Buffalo was a big hit when it counted, with Allen finding Stefon Diggs for the only offensive score of the night and Taron Johnson scoring NFL history with a 101-yard intercept return for a touchdown – by far the the most monumental game of a 17- 3 Division round victory.
Jackson, who was flagged for intentional stranding on his last game after a bad slam forced him to his own end zone, struggled to get the Ravens out of an offensive crisis that was apparent from the start. Allen, on the other hand, wasn’t as deadly in the air as he often has been during a 2020 MVP-caliber campaign, but handled the ball pretty well. The Bills’ defense, on the other hand, really came through at home, registering two fourth saves and neutralizing one of the best ground attacks in the game to not only lead but preserve the win.
