Bindi Irwin and her husband Chandler Powell took a moment to reflect on 2020.
The young environmentalists revealed on Wednesday that they face professional difficulties while going through personal stages.
In a lengthy Instagram post, Irwin recalled the challenges his team faced when wildfires swept through parts of Australia last January.

“For us this year has been filled with both immense joy and heartbreaking loss. Our Wildlife Hospital has been the busiest ever due to the Australian bushfires raging through across the country, ”Irwin told his 469,000 subscribers. “We have worked hard to send our support to the front lines of destruction. We have now treated over 100,000 patients since the opening of our Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital.

She also acknowledged that the coronavirus pandemic added another layer of concern for her family’s zoo, which should have been able to celebrate its 50th anniversary on June 3 but had to be closed instead.

Australia Zoo was closed to the public for 78 days due to the health crisis, which resulted in disaster for the zoo’s high cost of animal care.
“Our pet food bills alone are about $ 80,000 per week and we have spent our days trying to keep our team and family of animals safe,” Irwin said. “Every moment of every day, the question of when or if we were going to recover was burning in our minds.”

However, at the same time, some bright spots have taken place in 2020.
Irwin, 22, married Powell, 24, on March 25. The couple got married in a private and socially distant ceremony at the Australia Zoo.

“Now we are patiently awaiting the arrival of our beautiful daughter. She is the light of our lives,” Irwin wrote to his fans. “I hope next year will bring some peace and we find a way to come together as a society. Remember to be kind to each other and find happiness even in the most little things.”
Irwin is about 27 weeks pregnant on Sunday.
Her other half of wakeboarding shared her excitement for the life milestone in an Instagram post from her.

“2020 has been filled with the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. As easy as it is to look back on this year’s struggles, I choose to revel in the highlights,” Powell wrote. “I have married my best friend and our daughter will be joining us in a few months. Starting 2021 as a husband and father is amazing and I am ready for absolutely whatever the year has in store.”
