Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone Season Two Reloaded are releasing this week, Activision has announced.

The mid-season update for both shooters adds several new maps, modes and features for Black Ops Cold War, as well as two new Operators and the new ZRG 20mm Sniper Rifle.

This all goes live after updates to Black Ops Cold War at 5 a.m. UK time tomorrow, March 30, and Warzone at 7 a.m. UK time on Wednesday, March 31.

As Black Ops Cold War developer Treyarch previously revealed, the new 6v6 Miami Strike map is launching as part of Reloaded Season Two. This newer, brighter, Miami Tiger version – considered by some to be the worst competitive multiplayer map in the game, looks like a decent addition to the map lineup and gets its own 24/7 playlist this week.

Also at the launch of the mid-season update, the Mansion 2v2 and 3v3 map, which joins the Gunfight and Face Off map rotations, and Golova, the Outbreak mode location now available in Fireteam mode.

New modes include Multi-team Hardpoint, which sees 10 teams of four battling for several difficult points at the same time. Each set of hard spots lasts 120 seconds before moving on to the next locations.

There are new Prop Hunt maps and accessories at the launch of the Mid-Season Update, with Miami Strike and Satellite joining the map rotation.

At one point during the remainder of season two, Gunsmith Customs hit Black Ops Cold War. This allows players to mix and match attachments from weapon blueprints of the same weapon type in create-a-class. Gunfight tournaments also arrive later in the season.

The highly anticipated weapon tuning is also coming with the launch of Reloaded Season Two. This modifies weapons in Black Ops Cold War only and does not apply to Warzone. Here is the official text from Treyarch:

“In Season 2 Reloaded, we implemented tweaks to make the Krig 6, FFAR 1 and Groza more competitive in the assault rifle class, while adjusting the Milano 821, KSP 45, LC10, MAC-10 and AK-74u in the SMG class. We’ve also made specific performance tweaks for the RPG-7, 1911, Magnum, and more.

These changes include full tuning passes on the Muzzle and Underbarrel attachments that affect Recoil on Assault Rifles and SMGs, the increased damage for rockets against enemies with Flak Jacket in Hardcore, and the removal of the shine of sniper rifles with Iron Sights. “

Now on to the zombies. Outbreak gets a nighttime version of Sanatorium, a new objective called Secure, and a new vehicle: the Dirt Bike. As you might expect, with the arrival of the new region of Sanatorium Night, new information is to be found, including new audio logs and radio broadcasts that move the story of Dark Aether forward.

Here’s a useful new feature for zombies: You can apply any weapon blueprint you own to your weapon through the pause menu in Outbreak, Firebase Z, and Die Maschine. This includes any weapon picked up or purchased from a Wall Buy.

Dead Ops Arcade 3 gets more useful with this update – it will now reward player XP and Battle Pass XP, so you can always progress through your levels and levels when playing the mode.

Do you remember the PlayStation exclusive Onslaught mode? This also gets new content via Containment mode.

Now for the new operators: Terrell Wolf joins NATO when Reloaded launches, and Karla Rivas joins NATO mid-season. These soldier skins are available as premium DLC in the store and can be used in both Black Ops Cold War and Warzone.

The ZRG 20mm sniper arrives in season. It has a faster bullet speed than any other sniper, fast reload speed, and can kill with a single hit to the head, chest, or shoulders. It is designed for extremely long distances.

You can unlock the ZRG 20mm by completing its in-game challenge or purchasing the Jackpot Sniper bundle in the shop.

Helpfully, Season Two Reloaded creates a smaller and optimized file size in Warzone. If you own the full version of Modern Warfare and Warzone, or if you own the free Warzone on your own, you will see the overall file size reduced.

This is particularly welcome given the space occupied by these games. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone have a reputation for huge downloads of updates and massive installation footprints, which we’ve talked about in the past. It got so much worse that in February Activision warned that a standard 500GB PlayStation 4 may no longer be suitable for Call of Duty: Warzone, Black Ops Cold War, and Modern Warfare.

“Improvements to the overall content management system have been made possible by optimizing data and streamlining the content packs required for individual game modes,” Activision said.

This reduced file size will come after “a larger than usual single update” for reloaded season two, Activision warned. This update includes those optimizations and is necessary to reduce the overall footprint, Activision insisted. Hopefully it will be worth it – Activision has said that future patch sizes for Modern Warfare and Warzone should be smaller than those released this week.

“Along with the ability to remove individual modes that are no longer played, owners of the full Modern Warfare experience will see more space freed up on their platform of choice,” Activision said.

“However, those who wish to continue playing Campaign, Multiplayer and / or Special Ops will need to reinstall the Enhanced Content Packs, which will be released alongside and shortly after the Season 2 Reloaded update.”

As a result of the update, the Warzone file size will be reduced to between 10.9 GB and 14.2 GB, and the Modern Warfare / Warzone file size will be reduced to between 30.6 GB and 33.6 GB, depending on your platform.

Here is the breakdown of the file size reduction:

  • PlayStation 5: 10.9 GB (Warzone only) / 30.6 GB (Warzone and Modern Warfare)
  • Playstation 4: 10.9 GB (Warzone only) / 30.6 GB (Warzone and Modern Warfare)
  • Xbox Series X / Xbox Series S: 14.2 GB (Warzone only) / 33.6 GB (Warzone and Modern Warfare)
  • Xbox One: 14.2 GB (Warzone only) / 33.6 GB (Warzone and Modern Warfare)
  • PC: 11.8 GB (Warzone only) / 30.6 GB (Warzone and Modern Warfare)

Yes, boring if you just want to play Modern Warfare you still need to have Warzone installed.

And finally, the dreadful size of the Season 2 Reloaded update files. Prepare yourself: these are huge!

The Season 2 update Reloaded will have a download size of approximately 7.4-14.18GB for owners of the full version of Black Ops Cold War, and 52.0-57.8GB for owners of the full version of Black Ops Cold War. owners of Warzone Free, who are up to date with the latest updates on one or both games.

Activision reiterated that downloading Warzone is a larger file size due to data optimization, but weighing in at almost 60GB is pretty extreme.

Here is the breakdown:

Black Ops Cold War update sizes:

  • PlayStation 5: 12.2 GB
  • Playstation 4: 7.4 GB
  • Xbox Series X / Xbox Series S: 14.18 GB
  • Xbox One: 9.13 GB
  • PC: 8.1 GB

Warzone Update Sizes:

  • PlayStation 5: 52.0 GB
  • Playstation 4: 52.0 GB
  • Xbox Series X / Xbox Series S: 57.8 GB
  • Xbox One: 57.8 GB
  • PC: 52.4 GB (Warzone only) / 133.6 GB (Warzone and Modern Warfare)
