Black Ops Cold War attachment lets players see through walls

If you have played Call of Duty: Cold War Black Ops recently and found yourself killed in a rather unusual way, there might be a good explanation. Apparently, one of the game’s many props now allows players to essentially see through walls, giving it a leg up on the competition.

Spotted by u / AvHsA on Reddit, when you equip the Tiger Team Spotlight Body attachment to a weapon, then you can see enemy player names appear while aiming. The attachment doesn’t reveal the exact outline of the opposing players, but if you can see their name in the game, well, that’s good enough to knock them down. This is obviously a major problem and something that Treyarch should probably be looking to fix as soon as possible.

It should be noted that at the time of this writing, it is unclear how consistent this bug is across all of Call of Duty: Cold War Black Ops. This trick was discovered on one of the game’s more recent maps, Express, but it’s unclear if it’s a problem in all places. Additionally, it’s unclear if this same bug is present with the Tiger Team Spotlight accessory when it is equipped with all weapons or if it only causes this issue with certain weapons.

As of this writing, Treyarch has not said anything about the bug and may not even be aware of its existence. It also doesn’t seem to be something so Cold War Black Ops gamers even noticed it until recently. That said, the more present it is in the game, the more players will start to know and likely enjoy it. As such, Treyarch really needs to get wind of this quickly or risk ruining the meta of Cold War Black Ops for the foreseeable future.

If we hear anything new about the studio’s plans to fix this bug, we’ll be sure to let you know in the future. Until then you can play Call of Duty: Cold War Black Ops now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S and PC. Additionally, you can continue to follow our coverage on the title here.
