Black Ops Cold War Leak suggests Big Nerf is coming to two OP weapons

Right now, there are two main contenders for Black Ops Cold War’s best weapon, and both could use a tweak. Fortunately, a new leak suggests that a big nerf is coming in the game’s next patch.

Anyone dipping their toes into Black Ops Cold War multiplayer will notice an abundance of M16 and AUG users. From the MP5 nerf, the meta-shift to longer-range weapons was swift.

With the AUG or M16 in hand, players can take out enemies with a single upper body burst, especially when performing the right props. Additionally, the weapons can be configured to be surprisingly long range, to the point of taking on snipers.

It wouldn’t come as a shock to anyone if Treyarch chose to nerf these powerful weapons. And whether we like it or not, that seems to be exactly what’s coming.

Black Ops Cold War is Nerfing M16 and AUG

According to a new leak, Black Ops Cold War is expected to nerf both the M15 and AUG in a future update. We don’t know exactly when this patch will roll out, but it’s likely to coincide with the Season 1 update on December 10.

This information comes from Tom henderson, a long-time reliable leaker in the Call of Duty community. In a new tweet, Henderson says players need to complete their weapon challenges while they still can because “ big nerves ” are coming.

As to exactly how the two weapons will see a nerf, we can’t be sure. In the case of the MP5, Treyarch made the pistol behave as intended, with a nerf within reach.

Since the M16s and AUGs are medium range weapons, maybe their overall damage will be reduced. After all, it seems too powerful for players to be able to take out enemies with a single burst shot right now.

If you want to see which weapons kill you the most in Black Ops Cold War, there is a way to check. In our stats, MP5 still has the most kills, suggesting that M16 and AUG might remain dominant even with the incoming nerf.

It’s true that AUG’s best loadout and accessories make this weapon, in particular, completely unstoppable in multiplayer. Fans of the weapon should enjoy it while they still can.

Chances are, we’ll only have until Black Ops Cold War Season 1 to use the weapon as we know it. But it’s probably best if the weapon is tuned before we get to the new Warzone Rebirth Island map.
