Call of Duty: Cold War Black Ops is reportedly breaking PS5 consoles, but at the moment it appears the issue is incredibly rare and Sony is replacing the consoles that were inflicted by the bug. New COD has been out for almost a month, not only on PS5, but also on PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC. And so far, it hasn’t had a lot of major issues or bugs. A content problem? Maybe, but definitely not a bug problem. However, these are apparently and occasionally PS5 consoles, and it’s not clear why.
Take to the Cold War Black Ops On the Reddit page, a player revealed that their console had recently become obsolete by the first-person shooter. According to the Reddit user, the game crashed his PS5 and the last time that happened the console broke for good. Adding to this, they note Cold War Black Ops is the only game that has crashed its console hard, seemingly ruling out the possibility that this was just a console issue rather than an issue involving both the game and the console.
“Well, it’s official. Cold War Black Ops officially has my PS5, “the user said.” The game crashed the entire console hard, the only game that crashed for me on the PS5. Now when I turn it on none of my games load without crashing and when games start loading the screen fills up with glittering, glitchy pixels before the console turns off. “
On its own, this incident wouldn’t be so remarkable, however, many players have since intervened via responses confirming that they had had similar issues with the game, apparently confirming that it was not a hoax or of a desperate attempt at attention.
The Reddit user adds that the console has shipped to Sony, who will provide a direct replacement within two weeks at no cost.
