A company that was allegedly ready to sell black PS2-themed PS5 consoles appears to be leaving fans without their device and their money.
Earlier this year, we reported that a company named SUP3R5 was selling black PS5 consoles, designed with the look of a PlayStation 2.
Considering that many Sony gamers weren’t fans of the PS5’s white outer shell, it was a dream come true – but an exclusive one. With just 304 black PS5 consoles up for grabs, it was a really exciting deal.
But it seems it was also a little too good to be true. In an update to our original SUP3R5 Black PS5 article, we reported that the company has canceled all of its orders.
The manufacturers cited the reason because there had been “credible threats to their safety.” They also alleged that all buyers would receive a full refund for their products.
Now, it seems that is not the case.
Was the black PS5 console a scam?
According to new reports, many consumers believe that Black PS5 sales have always been a scam.
Although SUP3R5 qualifies these accusations as “hurtful, confusing and unfair”, some users still have not received a refund.
And now, not only did SUP3R5 delete their Twitter account, the website has also been completely deleted.
A Reddit user reports that he is still waiting for his refund from the company, which is no longer easy to contact. Another confirms having received a refund, but only by reporting the case to PayPal itself.
A recent VGC report confirms that the user is not alone in their efforts, having also resorted to seeking compensation through PayPal.

Previously, SUP3R5 tried to explain exactly what was wrong with their sales plan. The company criticized consumers for launching a “scam story”, although it claims to understand their concerns:
“We think it’s perfectly reasonable to be skeptical about an operation that went as quickly as we did. However, we have started to see people on Twitter and YouTube actively pushing the scam story, with some even claiming to have proof. “
How to get a black PS5?
SUP3R5 may also return in the future, given previous statements. The company says it will change systems, with a silent invitation-only approach.
However, given the lack of a SUP3R5 presence at this time, we would say that’s pretty unlikely as it is.
Right now, another company claims they can produce a black, blue, or even red PS5. However, this manufacturer only sells you the shell of a console, rather than the device itself.
