DALLAS – Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., Spoke about the not-so-subtle change in media tone from the Trump administration to the Biden administration at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Saturday.

After taking an aggressively negative stance in White House coverage for the past four years, leading media outlets have occasionally mocked President Biden in his first six months, whether it was NBC News presenter Chuck Todd calling him “the president of the best angels”, Jim of CNN. Sciutto marveling at Biden’s body language as he meets Russian President Vladimir Putin, or the press offering a cover of his ice cream cones.

“They wanted to go fight Donald Trump every day because they never wanted him to be president,” Blackburn told Fox News. “So they acted like spoiled kids for four full years, they didn’t succeed, so they were going to take their toys out of the sandbox and go home.”

Blackburn said she had heard complaints about how the press greeted the new president of all political stripes.

“Now, as one Tennessian told me this week, ‘you know the left is giddy with joy, they’re giddy with joy and they’re using that as a way of pushing towards socialism,” Blackburn said. “And it came from a woman who is not political.”

Other members of the Biden administration, such as White House press secretary Jen Psaki, have had softball interviews with the press. CNN’s Brian Stelter was mocked for asking Psaki how reporters could better cover the White House, while MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace openly gave Psaki friendly advice and encouragement during their live chat, telling him to ” hold on “in the briefing room.

Rave reviews from the White House of Biden extend to Vice President Kamala Harris, accused Blackburn, particularly regarding the coverage of his delayed and, some say, ineffective border trip. It has taken Harris nearly 100 days to get to the US-Mexico border since Biden named her responsible for the crisis.

Blackburn, who tore up the press at the time of Harris’ trip for failing to adequately cover Biden’s immigration policy, said the media was doing a disservice by not demanding more responses. She reiterated her criticism of Harris’ overall handling of the crisis.

“She was tasked with dealing with this problem which is a humanitarian crisis, a national security crisis, an environmental crisis over there on the southern border and she was very dismissive about it, I was quite disappointed with how she chose to answer that, not what we wanted to say, and I have to tell you that when she finally got to the border she went to the wrong address, ”Blackburn said.

“And to go and not to go down to the border and see where the wall is and see people crossing the Rio Grande, not to go into this area that has been so immersed in your practice that we really have some disappointments, and I think to all of those mayors, sheriffs and elected officials that are in those border counties, it was a real disrespect for them in the work they do.
